The race is on May 1st this year, so if you are in Chicago and are looking for a fun 5K, come join me at the 2011 Ravenswood Run!
In 2009, I turned 40 and decided to start running. Not at the same time, but when I decided to start blogging about it, it seemed apropos to talk about my life at midlife since the urge to run is probably my version of a midlife crisis. More importantly, however, I wanted this blog to be about much more than running. So here I am, running, blogging, momming, wife-ing, and living my life. Hope you enjoy following along!

Racing Traditions
I've now been running long enough to have a race that is a tradition. The first race I ran was the 2010 Ravenswood Run, and I'm going to run it again this year. It's a charming neighborhood 5K, and for us it has the added benefit that the route goes right past the home of one of Alex's friends (and friends of ours too). So Dave and Alex can hang out with friends while the race is going on and then walk up to see me cross the finish line.

You Have To Take the Good with the Bad
I am really enjoying running outdoors again now that the weather is improving in Chicago and there is more daylight to run in. Seeing all the spring flowers poking out of the ground into being is quite inspiring and puts an extra spring into my step. However, I could do without the dead rats. To be fair, that should read "rat" -- singular, but almost stepping on one is way more than enough.
